As we age, our delicate under-eye skin gets thinner and more translucent. This reveals the underlying muscle, which gives the region a purple-blue hue. The vascular network under the eye also shrinks, leading to the deposition of a dark pigment called haemosiderin. The ideal age to start polynucleotides varies depending on individual skin concerns and goals. For those in their mid-30s and beyond, polynucleotides effectively address early signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. Polynucleotides are also suitable at any age for treating specific issues like acne scars or hyperpigmentation.

Polynucleotides should be considered for hair loss when hair starts to thin or there is mild to moderate hair loss. This includes recession at the temples, causing an 'M'-shaped hairline, and loss of hair at the crown of the head. The treatment is not suitable for areas of baldness where the skin has become shiny, as the follicles are closed and cannot be stimulated with polynucleotides.

Will it hurt?

Polynucleotides can be administered using either a cannula or a needle.

A cannula is a blunt tube inserted under the skin through a small hole created by a small needle. 

Numbing cream is applied to the needle's insertion site so you will not feel anything. As the cannula moves under the skin, you may feel some mild tugging, which some find uncomfortable rather than painful.

If using a needle, many small injections of polynucleotides will distribute the product over the face. A numbing cream will be applied, but a stronger product can sometimes sting.

What can I expect afterward?

A small puncture hole may be visible for 24 hours if a cannula is used.

  • Do not touch or rub the treated area until the following day.
  • Do not apply makeup for 12 hours.
